Foreword
I’ve worked on more than thirty games across all kinds of teams and projects. Some were huge productions with strict pipelines and specialized testers. Others were small studios where one person handled everything from gameplay tweaks to bug tracking. Across all those experiences, one thing stayed consistent. Quality always mattered.
When I started Alkotech Labs, I wanted to build something that helped smaller teams reach that same level of confidence. Many developers want their games to feel polished and professional, but they often think QA is a luxury that comes after success. In reality, testing is part of how you reach success. It saves time, protects creativity, and keeps the focus on the player experience.
This guide exists to make QA practical. You’ll learn simple ways to organize testing, communicate clearly, and plan your efforts around the size of your project. You don’t need a big team or expensive tools. What matters is understanding what “quality” means for your game and creating habits that help you reach it.
Each chapter gives you tools you can apply right away. Think of it as a conversation between professionals who care about good games. You’ll find guidance, examples, and short exercises to help you reflect on your own process. You’ll also see notes pointing to downloadable templates you can use as starting points for your own setup.
If you’re part of a small studio, a solo developer, or leading a growing team, this playbook will show you how to test smarter and release with confidence. That’s what I want for you — clarity, structure, and fewer late-night surprises before launch.
